SR22 Insurance

SR22 Insurance is typically more expensive than standard auto insurance. With the exception of the SR22 form, there is no difference in the coverages that are available to you. Some insurance companies, however, may refuse to write a policy for someone who needs an SR22 filing. Additionally, your existing insurance company may cancel your insurance if you need an SR22 while you’re insured with them.
The reasons that people get an SR22 vary, but some reasons include:
- Receive a Driving Under the Influence ticket
- Too many speeding tickets
- Reckless Driving conviction
- Too many accidents
SR22 Insurance Can Also Include:
- DUI Insurance: A specialized coverage required for individuals with a history of driving under the influence (DUI) convictions. Typically more expensive than standard auto insurance, DUI insurance helps high-risk drivers meet legal obligations by providing additional coverage and serving as proof of financial responsibility, assisting them in reinstating their driving privileges after a DUI-related offense.
- Suspended License Insurance: A specific type of coverage designed for individuals who have had their driver’s licenses suspended due to various reasons, such as traffic violations, DUI convictions, or failure to maintain proper insurance. This specialized insurance helps individuals meet legal requirements, providing coverage during the period of license suspension and often serving as a crucial step toward license reinstatement. It is tailored to high-risk drivers, and obtaining such insurance may be a necessary step in regaining the privilege to drive legally.
- Liability-Only Auto Insurance: A basic coverage that protects the policyholder financially in case they cause damage or injury to others in a car accident. This insurance typically includes bodily injury and property damage coverage, meeting the legal minimum requirements in many states. However, it does not cover the policyholder’s own vehicle damage or medical expenses, making it a cost-effective option for individuals seeking to fulfill legal obligations while minimizing premium costs.
